Finally, after over a year of development, videoDB 3.0 has finally been released. New feature and improved functionality include:
- Elegant template finally enabled with AJAX fancyness
- Database upgraded to utf8 – you can now have videos of various languages in one db
- Out-of-the-box thumbnail generation for better image quality and performance
- Out-of-the-box support for PDF export
- Various performance fixes
- Total rewrite of the multiuser code- better performance and easier extensible in the future

Hello,
i already upgraded my videodb installation, but now i have a strange “bug” – where can i ask questions like this?
When i go to the startpage, now nobody can see my video´s – only the user “ALLE” is a choice or login. When i login, i can use my personal user “Eddie” . maybe you can have a look on it -> http://videodb.ej28.de/index.php
videodb has a forum or something like this? I think it´s much more better to ask thoose questions there.

HI, Congratulations for this fantastic software.
Anyway I have a different view.
I think you can have here a fantastic software for commerces renting like video-clubs or dvd-clubs.
For this cases you only need to add the chance to set a list of clients and select the clients when you borrow a movie.
It will be fantastic if you can save a history of borrows for each client, to know if the client already saw a movie.
Another cool change would be if you can set the number of copies of a movie you have, and how many of them were borrowed and hoy many are available.
There area a lot of other great ideas related, but I think it would be a great improvement if you can do that.

Hi, where can I find older Versions of videoDB? There are some functions, which are not working at my webhost and some which I don’t need. I wold like to use one of the first simple Version of videoDB.

The SourceForge download page has an archive of all released versions.
The upgrade procedure still is not working because on “Step 3″ the DB-prefix value is not provided.
After this line
(447:) <input type=”hidden” name=”db_database” value=”"/>
add the following line
(448:) <input type=”hidden” name=”db_prefix” value=”"/>
to the file ‘install.php’.
This will fix this issue, which I already posted/mailed about one year ago!
Another issue I have with the “Borrow Manager” which seems to not work correctly.
When I try to set an item to lend out the diskid is not provided.
When I manually add “?diskid=xxx” to the address line the script lets me specify some inormation (who) which is also stored in the db (in my case vdb_lent).
But this information is nowhere to be seen when I view the item again or open the “Borrow Manager”.
Any suggestions?

would be happy to supply features for DVD rental, but on commercial basis. I do unfortunately not have the resources to do this in my spare time.

please check if current CVS version of install.php fixes your problem. The fix is a little different from what you’ve described though.
As for reporting bugs- this needs to be done through SourceForge. Otherwise they are not emailed to the developer’s mailing list… and likely wont get fixed.

Hi, I have an issue with the rating from IMDB. The stars is shown, but they are greyed out, eg. no yellow to show what rating the movie has on imdb. Is this a bug, or is it something wrong with my setup?
The program works great, i like it.
One smal problem is name sorting, i have som sorting problems, a film i own is sorted under “A” (Änglagård) butit shuld be sorted under “Ä” (Änglagård). Language is Swedish. Can some one help me with this, the swedish alphabet is ABC………XYZÅÄÖ. Please help me.

hi i’m having issues with the, Guest Account not being able to see the posts from Example Account B
my problem is that, when a user first visits my site, the Guest account. doesn’t show any of the posts which where posted in Account B. so user has to change Guest Account into B account and press on ALL option to view all movies. that is my problem
how to make Guest Account view all the movies added as default.

How do i automatically scan my movie folder and add entries for all my AVI’s?

in 3.3 there is a perl script:
to add all videos in
/media/videodisk/myvideos
type in your console:
perl /var/www/videodb/contrib/videoadd.pl /media/videodisk/myvideos

I have problem with RSS feed. I can’t use my vodeoDB RSS in another site..
Did you post these problems in the developers mailing list? Did you try upgrading to the latest CVS version?
I’ve just installed the 3.0.3 version, but I cast photos won’t fetch.
How do I fix this?
