videoDB v3.0 beta 3 has just been released.
This beta contains ajax enhancements (image zoom) and partial rewrite of the multiuser permissions systems- this was necessary as the old code contained various bugs and ambiguities. Rewrite also allowed drastic decrease in number of SQL queries which should improve performance in hosting environments.

it’s time to say “thank you” for the work on this great video-web-program! i use it since last summer and i’m surprised and amazed that the work on this program is still going on.
if you have little time for a feature request:
it would be great if you would add a field to every movie with the date on which the movie was added. (i think there is a date, but it’s not displayed)
so the only thing i have to say: thank you!
i’ve donated $25 for your great work! it’s the first time i’ve donated to a software-product… (and i use many programs)
greetings

Valid password(s) should be prominently given for the Demo.
I’m getting a new server and would like to know what versions of Apache/MySQL/PHP I should install for VideoDB
Thanks – I like this Web site
For apache any version should do, for PHP and MySQL I’d recommend 5er versions.
I have a little question: how can i remove the actors pictures? It uses quite a little bit space. (almost 1 MB for every well-known movie for caching those pictures)
wpj: Disable “Actor thumbnails” function in Configuration.
Hi, I just upgraded videodb to 3.0b3 – and now, I get the error
Database Problem
Unknown table ‘permissions’ in where clause
SELECT count(*) AS num FROM videodata LEFT JOIN userseen ON videodata.id = userseen.video_id AND userseen.user_id = ’10000′ LEFT JOIN users ON videodata.owner_id = users.id WHERE mediatype != 50 AND istv = 0 AND permissions.from_uid = 10000 AND permissions.permissions & 2 != 0
I checked with phpmyadmin – the table “permissions” is definitively existing… a prior version (v2.5) did work without problems, and yes, I used the “upgrade” functionality…..
Thanks for helping out
regards, tkhobbes
Already fixed in CVS- please check the developers mailing list.
Just tried this… i wanna say that you have done a great job!
I just have few minor things that should be added:
-More custom fields
-More choises on “Language” (what i mean there should be more flags)
-A setting so i can the frontpage movie list only shows like this:(example, and it would be great if it would be configurable)
“Name” “Date” “Subtitles:” etc. Instead of showing thumb and plot etc.
Thanks for this great “Script”!
Great stuff, I have been stuck with an old Access database (I know I am Sinner) but this look like something i can work from.
I am currently working on migrating this old database into MySql (videoDB) as its to large to do manually
I have some suggestions (or rather fields I have in my old DB which I don’t want to loose)
Video Format (e.g. WideScreen, FullScreen, Widescreen/Fullscreen)
Audio Format (Mono, Stereo, Dolby Surround, DD5.1, DTS….)
—————-
DVD Region
Blueray Region
Laser Disc Format (CAV, CLV, CAV/CLV)
—————
Price
————–
Subtitles (English, German. Swedish)
————–
+ The posibility to add fields to Genre. Ok I know I can just do an insert in to the Genre but it would be nice to have it in the Script.
A feature request: Possibility to parse Imdb links from files(doc, xml txt… etc) so it automatically adds all the movies in the links to the database…

I would like to build a web server that has actor pictures and video content like the IMDB site – cover photo, discriptions, actors (and band), and production staff for my church videos. Is there a document that shows what the format of the data needs to be to match one of your input formats?
I forgot to mention I have been using videodb for years and I love it. I donated $25 to the project as well, but it is only the first installment, you guys have a great product.

I wanted to say I have used VideoDB for years and it is AWSOME!
I donated $25 this morning. It is the first time I have donated to a software product, but it is only a first installment. You need to change the paypal option from $25 to a choice of 25, 50, or other. I would have given more – and I will!
